INTERNATIONAL COUPLES THERAPY IN BERLIN
Emotionally focused couple therapy (EFT) for binational and/or expat couples and individuals.
About me
In EFT couple therapy, I take an empathetic approach to helping couples progressively identify painful patterns, destructive dynamics and negative cycles that are harming their relationship. My goal is to provide couples with a protected space where each partner can feel and express their emotions in complete safety. Changing a couple's relationship rhythms requires deep emotional work: daring to expose vulnerabilities, as well as welcoming and acknowledging the other's feelings. I help you change your perspective on your relationship, opening new potential for connecting with each other and yourselves.

In EFT individual therapy, the focus lies on the client’s emotions and on reshaping the emotional connection with self and others. The therapist guides the client to explore his or her innermost emotions and identify the coping strategies and emotional regulation patterns they have developed to deal with pain and challenging emotions. We explore how these strategies are useful for you and how, at the same time, their use in various contexts can get in the way of your life. Depression, anxiety and other emotional stress reactions are the best attempts to deal with hidden or unbearable emotions.

Throughout the therapeutic process, clients develop skills to manage their emotions in a healthier way, fostering secure bonds with others as well as self-awareness, flexibility and resilience.
I am French and grew up in France, but I have lived in Berlin for the past 15 years. I also lived for an extended period in the United States. Since my husband is American and we have two daughters who were born and raised in Germany, at home I am regularly confronted with the tensions or discrepancies that can result from cultural particularities and differences.
I offer therapy in French, German or English. My approach is to integrate the transition from one language to another in the sessions themselves to suit your particular needs. Taking an intercultural perspective is central to my therapeutic work.
